The archaeological sites of Bacoli and the 100 camerelle
Culture
Bacoli - The town of Bacoli hosts numerous interesting archaeological sites, but not all of them are accessible to the public. However, thanks to the collaboration between the Stramirabilis association, which manages the Mirabilis swimming pool, and the Archaeological Park of Campi Flegrei, it was possible to visit again a site that had remained closed for decades. The site in question is that of the one hundred chambers, a name that could be misleading. In fact, it would suggest a house with many rooms, while in reality it is a water tank. The inexact name derives from the one that was given in the eighteenth century to the archaeological finds made at the time, which were identified without having certain data. The cistern called one hundred chambers belonged to the villa of the consul Ortenzio and in fact has many small compartments in which the water was deposited. The peculiarity is that when you arrive at the basement you can look out and enjoy a unique glimpse of the sea in front, which appears to the right and left of the observer.
