Maratea: the city of 44 churches

Maratea - Maratea is not only known as the pearl of the Tyrrhenian Sea, but also as the city of 44 churches. Precisely to enhance this immense heritage of art and faith, the municipality, in collaboration with the Pleiades association, conceived the Maratea Sacra project. Maratea Sacra aims to make the tourist discover all the sacred buildings that characterize and dot the territory: churches, monasteries, chapels, hermitages, with their very rich set of statues, works of art, paintings and sacred furnishings.

Maratea Sacra first of all foresees the installation of 27 information panels next to the main churches among the 44 in all that are located in the municipal area. Afterwards, the tourist will be able to enjoy various thematic itineraries, according to his taste and interest. A specially prepared website is used to consult multimedia materials made available to users, in order to fully appreciate the historical and artistic heritage present in Maratea and its surroundings.
