Many of the artifacts found in this area are preserved in the museums of Enna and Syracuse. There are also several traces of the Byzantine period with suggestive rock villages dating back to this era. Equally interesting are the Caves of Via Carcere, the work of an ancient troglodyte civilization that lived in this area. Dating back to the Norman period is the splendid Bell Tower of San Pietro dated 1079. Of Aragonese origin is instead the Royal Palatine Chapel which represents the most famous monument of Calascibetta. Among the most interesting works that it houses there are paintings depicting Count Ruggero d'Altavilla and a baptismal font from 1500. The building stands on the ruins of the old Marco Castle which came to light after recent restorations.
