How the tiella of Gaeta is born and evolves

Gaeta - One of the most typical dishes of Gaeta is the so-called tiella, which was born as a poor dish for fishermen, evolving today as a tasty street food to eat when you are out and about. On the surface, the tiella might look like a pizza, but it differs from the latter due to the fact that its dough is different. This diversity stems from the need that once upon a time the tiella lasted a very long time without going bad, as it had to survive long voyages at sea.

In other respects, in fact, tiella is a peasant product, since it can be stuffed with both fish and vegetables. In fact, the two most common tielle are the one with octopus and the one with endive and olives. The original recipe is over a hundred years old and is strongly linked to tradition.
