Naro - Naro is a Sicilian town in the province of Agrigento; rises 500 meters above sea level and has 8500 inhabitants. It is an important town in the Agrigento area and the undisputed baroque capital of the area. The castle of Naro is considered one of the oldest in Sicily, it is even believed to have Sican origins, although it was later taken over by the Normans and the Chiaramonte. The old Cathedral, the ancient mother church of Naro, is unfortunately semi-ruined today; even before it was a church, it was a mosque, which can be deduced from the apse with the round roof, typical of Islamic art. Today the old cathedral is a national monument. The remarkable church of San Francesco is also worth a visit, with its beautiful portal and remarkable façade. The economy of Naro is still largely linked to agriculture, and leading products are represented by live and oil, known and appreciated throughout the island.
