The link between Ernest Hemingway and Torre di Mosto
Curiosities
Torre di Mosto - Everyone knows Ernest Hemingway for his adventurous and almost legendary life. The famous American writer had managed to build a real character around him, which was often confused with those of his books. However, few know some more intimate aspects of his life, such as the time he stayed in Torre di Mosto. He came here to follow Agnes, a nurse who together with some of her colleagues opened a clinic in order to contain the flu epidemic. (continues below the video)
It seems that Hemingway was made fun of by the other soldiers for walking around with a cane. What was once the clinic is now the town hall. There are people who still remember the writer, especially when he went to Valle San Gaetano to eat. Apparently he liked fish very much, especially grilled eel which he even ate the skin of. He also enjoyed the brodetto, although it was a simple dish. Beyond the image he wanted to give of himself, Hemingway was a shy man who, according to some, spent some of his happiest moments in Torre di Mosto.
