Bertinoro - Located on Mount Cesubeo, Bertinoro is a medieval village in the province of Forlì-Cesena. One of the main streets is occupied by the majestic Co-Cathedral, dedicated to Santa Caterina, the town's cathedral. It dates back to 1500 and preserves a prestigious painting of the saint. In the square there is the municipal building called Palazzo Ordelaffi, as it was built by Pino I Ordelaffi, lord of Bertinoro, around 1300. About the height of the main monument of Bertinoro is the Column of the Rings, used to tie horses and so called because it was decorated precisely with twelve rings. The legend says that it was built by Guido del Duca and Arrigo Mainardi to put an end to the disputes over who should host a possible stranger. To each ring of the column corresponded the name of a family, therefore according to the ring chosen to tie the horse by the unsuspecting traveler, the corresponding family had the honor of hosting the stranger. Another place of interest is the Rocca, dating back to the year 1000, it served as a military defense, prison and warehouse. Today it houses both the Museum of Sacred Art and the Bertinoro University Center. In the nearby hamlet of Polenta there is a very characteristic church called Pieve di San Donato. The building has undergone several renovations and is known for being mentioned by the poet Carducci in the song 'La Chiesa di Polenta'. In fact, a small bust dedicated to the poet is located in the courtyard in front of it.
