Arquata del Tronto: as it was before the earthquake

Arquata del Tronto - Arquata del Tronto is a town that straddles three regions (Lazio, Abruzzo and Umbria) and two national parks (that of the Gran Sasso and the Laga and that of the Sibillini Mountains). The 2016 earthquake unfortunately destroyed it, but it was once a place of tourism and beauty. In Arquata there were many activities to do, both in summer and in winter.

In fact, in winter the Forche Canapine lifts are active. In addition, religious tourism also took place, since in the Church of San Francesco there was a replica of the Holy Shroud. In this area there were many activities, events and demonstrations that unfolded throughout the year. In August the party 'Alla Corte della Regina' took place, inside the monumental fortress, with a procession and historical re-enactment. In October there was the Brown Festival, what a passion, dedicated to this tasty local product. The hamlets of Arquata were also very active, especially Spelonga with the Festa Bella, a reminder of the Battle of Lepanto, and Pretare, with the descent of the fairies, a celebration of the Sibyl's legends.
