The costume goes on stage!

Mirto. - In the Messina hinterland, the Borgo invites you to visit with its many artistic beauties, recognized nationally. The walk through the alleys leads to the Mother Church of Santa Maria Assunta which, in classical style, has a Latin cross plan and is structured on three naves. Built in the 16th on a Norman religious building, it has frescoes in the internal naves by Da Torturici and Canarda (1578) and beautiful portals with wall decorations.

Worth visiting are the Church of San Nicola dei Greci from about 1228, in Gothic style and with a pointed nave, and the Church of San Alfio e Fratelli from 1555, in Sicilian-Norman style, very beautiful with the dome and the conical roof of the majolica bell tower. Inside we admire the three marble statues of the Saints to whom it is dedicated. Finally, heading towards the Costume Museum, you can visit the Church of Santa Maria del Gesù with works by Gaggini. At Palazzo Cozzopane an extraordinary costume exhibition is set up in eleven rooms, collected by the set designer Mirando and other donations. Here we can fall in love with the costumes of the Leopard as well as the embroidered linen, the popular but fine folk dresses, high quality manufactures and of yesteryear.
