The magic of the Clitunno springs
Nature
Fonti del Clitunno - Near Spoleto, precisely in the town of Campello sul Clitunno, there is a magical place that nature lovers cannot absolutely miss. These are the Fonti del Clitunno. They form a 400-meter-long stretch of water with an area of almost 10,000 square meters on the banks of which numerous plant species such as cypress poplar and weeping willow grow. (continues below the video)
There is also no shortage of animals, in particular swans, geese and ducks. The beauty of this place over the centuries has inspired many painters and poets such as Pliny the Younger, Virgil and Giosuè Carducci. A stele located near the lake was also dedicated to the latter. The Fonti del Clitunno are fed by underground springs that cause small movements in the water. In Roman times this was a place of worship and in fact several temples were built nearby where religious festivals were held. Walking on one of the bridges that cross the water is a very relaxing experience that everyone should try.
