5 beautiful sites in Lake Orta

Nature Culture Practical information

Lago d'Orta - Lake Orta, also known as Lake Cusio, is located in Piedmont and is a lake of glacial origin, and includes the Island of San Giulio. The following video is presented as a tour in the Lake Orta area, highlighting five panoramic sites in particular: the first of these is the Sanctuary of the Madonna della Bocciola located in Vacciago, from which you can enjoy the wonderful view of the peninsula of Orta.

The church is rich in neoclassical frescoes and is dedicated to the apparition of the Madonna. The second place shown is the Sacro Monte di San Francesco, dedicated to St. Francis of Assisi, completely surrounded by nature (which is why it is considered a UNESCO heritage site), and from which you have a perfect view of the Island of San Giulio, especially in the morning. The third site is the churchyard of Monte Mesma, which can be easily reached on foot, is located at an altitude of 600 meters and has the imposing Monte Rosa as a backdrop. The tour continues with the Panoramic Balcony of Alzo di Pella, which shows the Roman facade of the Basilica of San Giulio. Finally, at about 700 meters above sea level, here is Balcone del Cusio, in the municipality of Madonna del Sasso. From here it is possible not only to have a perfect view of the lake, but also the background is suggestive, to the point of being able to glimpse the tall skyscrapers of Milan.
