A toast on the sea in winter.

Procida. - Visiting the island in winter on a sunny day means grasping its clear and bright colors. Walking through the streets and dreaming of summer, you can visit the Church of San Leonardo, with the wooden statue of the Saint and the symbols of protection: a vessel, a tower and a child who breaks the chains. We go to Terra Murata, the belvedere at 50 m overlooking the sea, where you can admire the view over the city.

Nearby are the walls and the Castle of Avalos, which the family of the same name who ruled here had built in the 15th century. The imposing building also includes the Palace which was used as a prison and can be visited, an impressive touch of penitentiary realism. Capital of culture in 2022, the island is full of treasures to discover. Back on the seafront, we visit the houses enclosed in Casale Vadcello, a small fortress created to protect the inhabitants from the Saracen attack. A toast at sunset at the beach of Pozzo Vecchio gives us the colors of the sea in the warm light of winter, the calm, the screeching of the seagulls and the echo of the vacationers that we imagine crowding the cove on summer days.
