The importance of the feast of Santa Fortunata in Baucina

Baucina - In Baucina one of the most important moments of the liturgical year, but also of city life, is the feast of Santa Fortunata. As often happens, the memory of the martyrdom of the saint is an occasion for celebrations that involve not only the inhabitants, who are very devoted to the patron saint, but also many people who flock from all over the region.

Baucina is filled with cars and buses for the duration of the event, which is 3 days. The festival was included in the Decree Law for religious tourism, and in this sense it represents a great resource for the town. At the heart of the religious rites is the solemn procession, which is also very spectacular. There are in fact dozens of people who support and move the urn that holds the remains of the saint. The cart is not only made up of the urn but also of a series of elements, including the chestnuts. The wagon calls itself Vara and it takes more than 60 people to support it, as it weighs almost 2000 kilograms. The show is completed by children dressed as putti raised in the air.
