Sauze d'Oulx - Sauze d'Oulx is a town of about 1,100 inhabitants in the province of Turin, located at 1503 m. SlM on the western side of Mount Genevris in the upper Val di Susa, 87 km west of the Piedmontese capital. Along the streets and in the squares it is still possible to admire the typical hexagonal fountains, a sign of a French past. In the early 1900s, life in Sauze took place in an archaic way with most of the inhabitants dedicated to forestry-agricultural-pastoral activities, but in a short time the town began to organize itself according to the rules of the nascent winter tourism, becoming today one of the largest international accommodation centers for ski holidays. This historical vocation has earned it the assignment of a venue for the Freestyle competitions of the 2006 Turin Winter Olympics. Being located in a strategic position for logistics and transport, 50 minutes from Caselle international airport, 5 km from the line that connects Turin with Paris, and 20 km from the A32 highway of Fréjus, all elements that make it optimal accessibility, Sauze d'Oulx hosts in a suggestive naturalistic setting a whole series of cultural and sporting events that go beyond the skiing, such as guided nature hikes, snowshoe competitions and mountain bike championships. For those who want to know the world of skiing by studying it from its origins, Sauze is a prestigious and essential point of reference.
