Molochio - Walter Longo wrote a book entitled 'The diet of longevity' talking about some typical dishes and eating habits of the town of Molochio. In Molochio almost every family has their own vegetable garden, where they grow the vegetables that they will then eat. In fact, at the base of the daily diet there are vegetables such as broccoli, zucchini, artichokes, tomatoes, aubergines, which are preserved either in oil or in vinegar.

Even the oil is very often self-produced. The most typical dish of this Aspromonte municipality is called pasta and vaianeia in the local dialect, that is pasta and green beans. Pasta with beans is also eaten very often. The youngest are linked to these culinary traditions which belong to an ancient heritage but are still cultivated today. The grandmothers cook the recipes of the past to their grandchildren, thus also handing down the long life that distinguishes the inhabitants of Molochio. Among these typical dishes can not miss the desserts, especially the zeppole flavored with honey.
