The flora and fauna of the Metalliferous Hills Park

Parco delle Colline Metallifere - The Colline Metallifere park is a place of great interest because of its geosites and mining sites, but not only. In fact, here you can also appreciate a very rich biodiversity in terms of flora and fauna, which is recognized internationally. The park is in fact included in the Europa 2000 network and includes 4 regional nature reserves and 4 national nature reserves, for a total extension of 20,000 hectares of protected territory.

The park is maintained and studied with the help of the Maremma Natural History Museum, which is based in Grosseto. This is because there are still so many things to know and discover, to the point that 10 zones or larger areas have been identified, which will be studied in more detail. The aim is not only pure knowledge, but also the enhancement of the Park. On the other hand, there is already a great deal of attention to the usability of nature trails, with the creation of walkways that allow birdwatching and other outdoor activities.
