Pianico
Culture
Pianico - Pianico is a small Lombard town in the province of Bergamo, located at the end of the Borlezza Valley, just 40 kilometers from the Orobic capital. It has 1,400 inhabitants and rises at an altitude of 328 meters above sea level. Very ancient and suggestive village, it dates back to Roman times, then dominated by the Lombards and the Carolingians. (continues below the video)
Its heyday, however, coincides with the Middle Ages, as can still be admired in its splendid historic center. Built on a small hill it still maintains all the peculiarities of the time intact. Its main monuments are represented by the Church of San Zenone, built in 1925, and by the nearby bell tower from the same period. The territory is made very important by the discovery, presumably in an ancient lake of glacial origin, of a large quantity of fossils and archaeological finds. In fact, minerals from prehistoric times have been found in abundance, such as lignite and clay of a lake nature.
