Between cuisine and traditions, Casalbordino

Casalbordino - Today we are in the province of Chieti, in Abruzzo and we are going to discover Casalbordino. Located about eight kilometers from the sea on a hill near the Sinello, let's discover its historic center. We thus find ourselves in front of the imposing façade of the eighteenth-century Church of the Santissimo Salvatore, which contains important testimonies of the history of the village.

Going towards the beach of Casalbordino, it is a famous sanctuary of the Madonna dei Miracoli and a pilgrimage destination for centuries. The sanctuary was built in 1962 on the remains of the previous churches of the seventeenth and nineteenth centuries and preserves the grandiose fresco dedicated to the apparition. Inside there is also a library and in the crypt there are also some beautiful ex voto from the nineteenth century. Also noteworthy is the variety of typical products of the area, such as Bocconotti, Cavallette, Cicerchiata, Scrispelle, Fiatone with ricotta, sweet pizza and Taralluccio, still prepared today by passionate artisans. In August it is possible to participate in the Tarallucci and wine festival, a peasant tradition that brings together tens of hundreds of people every year.
