Butera - Located in the province of Caltanissetta, Butera is a Sicilian village that extends from a hill to the shores of the Gulf of Gela. The only municipality, together with Gela, to be bathed by the Mediterranean. It is a quiet and fascinating village, which finds a source of tourism and livelihood in the sea, but it is also history that is the protagonist.

It is a very ancient city, as evidenced by the many places of interest. First of all the Arab-Norman castle, which has undergone several dominations over the centuries and is still the center of the town today. Together with Porta Reale, the ancient entrance to the city, so called because a Norman king entered here to take possession of the stronghold. The main place of worship is the church of San Tommaso Apostolo, located near the Porta Reale. Also fundamental is the Sanctuary of San Rocco which houses the statue of the patron saint. Among the typical dishes that characterize the place and also in this case attract tourists and visitors, we remember: - pasta with honey, a cold dish of Arab origin consisting of spaghetti, cinnamon, orange and almonds; - breaded with vegetables; - cassatelle and cannoli; - and various sweet preparations with an almond base which is a typical local product; - other typical products are wines such as Nero d'Avola; - and finally the peaches.
