In the Boutière Valley

Oyace - Called Agacium by the ancient Romans, the town is 18 km from Aosta and is surrounded by an uncontaminated mountain environment, meadows and marked paths, for all levels of difficulty. The most famous building is the Tornalla, a tower with an octagonal base, the subject of study by architects and historians. Lying on the rocky spur, for defensive purposes, it is reached by the ring path and within everyone's reach.

The bell tower of the Church of San Michele rises above the built-up area, and calls to visitors to admire the frescoes by Margotti, from 1916, who painted the faces of the inhabitants in the Eucharistic frescoes. To complete the art visit, go to the Museum of Sacred Art with its devotional and cult finds. From the town we can go trekking up to the Chapel of the Madonna della Neve at 2500 m or in the Alta Via num. 1 which leads to the summit of Col di Brison. The agricultural vocation of the town is maintained and Fontina is produced here, a semi-cooked and first milking cheese. Tastings and typical recipes are presented in the festival dedicated on August 15th through the streets of the town.
