Muravera and its imposing towers

Muravera - We are in Muravera, on the south-eastern coast of Sardinia. With its uncontaminated environments, it is a precious and fascinating land for all those who want to experience moments of absolute well-being in the midst of nature and paradisiacal scenarios. Capital of Sarrabus, Muravera was born in medieval times and forced to continuous looting and aggression by the Muslims and the Spaniards, some towers were built, today the main attraction of the city.

The towers, built to defend themselves but also to spot enemies and alert the population, were connected to each other through a rapid communication system, with smoke signals visible even by the entire population. There are three towers: the Montiferru Tower, in Capo Ferrato, which watched over the natural landing place of Porto Pirastu, from which you can admire a magnificent panorama that embraces the whole territory of Muravera, the Torre della Porta, also called the 10 Horses , since ten knights with their horses housed in the building below and located in the Marina of San Giovanni; and the Torre Salinas, guarding the ancient salt pans of Colostrai, very famous as the only Sardinian coastal tower to have a square base structure.
