The aspect of the fortress that we can admire is the one wanted by Andrea Carafa, leader of the Kingdom of Naples, who had it modified to make it suitable for the defensive needs of the time; such as the reinforced walls on the outside to resist the cannonballs fired by enemy ships. Inside the walls, now restored again and open to visitors, it is also possible to admire the Palazzo Fortress, where you can walk around the rooms and immerse yourself in an ancient village, made up of several shops and small alleys. The passage of many cultures, including; Normans, Aragonese, Angevins and Swabians, can be seen within the walls of the fortress which today has an enormous historical and cultural value.
