Spoleto - Spoleto is a city of Umbria in the province of Perugia. The particular historical center characterized by an ups and downs attracts thousands of visitors for its particular works and monuments that surround the town. Its dominant position on the hill of Sant'Elia has meant that the city has already prospered since the Iron Age. Visiting the historic center of Spoleto is a beautiful experience and it is not so tiring given the escalators that run along the crest of the hill and that dozens of tourists pass through every day.

There are several monuments to visit in Spoleto, among them it is worth mentioning: - The Rocca Albornoziana; it is located in a dominant position over the city and was built as a fortress on the occasion of the restoration of the papal seat in Rome. It is divided into two floors; on the first floor there are the residences of the governors and illustrious personalities while on the ground floor there are the rooms of the servants. Through an imposing staircase of honor you can reach the hall of honor which had the task of hosting banquets, parties and ceremonies even if unfortunately it was not finished. - Bridge of the Towers; around the fortress there is the famous Ponte delle Torri, symbol of the city. The bridge was part of a Roman aqueduct, 230 meters long and supported by 10 arches that go down to the ground. - Arch of via del Seminario; which connects two buildings facing each other and is characterized by three arches in the middle of which there is a statue of the Madonna that seems to look down. -The cathedral of Spoleto; dedicated to Santa Maria Assunta was built in the twelfth century, the facade of the Cathedral has a typical hut shape built in light stone. The upper part is in Romanesque style while the interiors are in the Baroque style characterized by a Latin cross plan, divided into three naves; of considerable importance is the small tabernacle which houses a letter from 1222 written by St. Francis addressed to Frate Leone. -Via di Visiale is characterized by details and arches and a Roman house. It is the oldest house in the whole city and dates back to the 1st century AD. Entering it you can visit the original mosaic floors and the typical structure of the patrician houses of the past. The Roman house was used until the early Middle Ages even if during the fifteenth century it was totally hidden by the construction of the palace of the Brancaleoni family. -The fountain of the Mascherone; built in 1680 to replace a previous fountain.
