Buggiano - Buggiano has always been favored by its geographical location, dominating the Roman road that connected Lucca with Florence. Of Etruscan foundation and subsequently inhabited by the Ligurians, in 1339 it became the domain of the Signoria of Florence. There are numerous enchanting religious buildings to visit such as the stone church of Santo Stefano in Campioni and the parish church of San Lorenzo.

Not to be missed is the Villa Bellavista, purchased in the 17th century by the Medici from Fabio Feroni, son of Francesco, a friend and in business with Cosimo III. The villa was enlarged with a chapel, park and aqueduct by Antonio Ferri and frescoed by Dandini, a very fashionable painter at the Medici court. Around the village there are well-kept and marked trails for Mtb, trekking and horseback riding, moreover inns cook excellent dishes, such as local cheese platters, ribollita and tortellana, a long and wavy pasta served with meat sauce, livers and chard. During your itineraries you will encounter a large Romanesque complex: The Church of the Madonna della Salute and San Nicolao, which preserves frescoes from the 1400s and a marble baptismal font.
