Sori: small fishing village on the Ligurian coast and birthplace of the trophies

Events Nature Culture Food and wine

Sori - Not far from the more famous Recco, there is the seaside village of Sori, overlooking the Golfo Paradiso. In the center of the town is the main place of worship, the church of Santa Margherita. Other religious places are the Sanctuary of Nostra Signora delle Grazie and the parish church of Santa Maria Assunta. In Sori, in fact, the Marian cult is very present, linked first to a painting and then to a statue three times lost in the sea and three times brought back to shore by it.

It seems that the foundation of Sori was the work of some Greeks who also founded Nice and Marseille, which at the time were part of the territory today of Liguria. Seaside tourism is one of the economic sources of Sori, which is also known for being the town where the trofie were born, a typical Ligurian fresh pasta that is usually eaten with pesto, another typical product of these areas. Given the proximity to the sea, however, they are often combined with fish and shellfish sauces. Finally, the event that is held every summer dedicated to jazz music 'Sori Jazz Festival', which had its first appearance in 1987, attracts many onlookers.
