Calopezzati: a holiday dedicated to tranquility and rural Calabrian tradition

Calopezzati - Calopezzati is a medieval village in Cosenza overlooking the sea. The sea remains the main attraction, the inland area is full of farms and agritourisms that welcome visitors with rural traditions and typical dishes. In the summer there are in fact many events related to the local gastronomy. The historic center appears suggestive and peaceful, and the two ancient gates to the village are still clearly visible.

Among the most important places of worship the mother church and the church of the addolorata, in addition to the convent of the reformed ones, the Swabian castle dominates the whole town, which was born as a Byzantine fortress and evolved into an elegant residence. Today the castle is owned by the Giannone di Acri, who carried out an important restoration at the end of the 1930s that saved the building from decay, making it one of the most evocative and well-preserved in Calabria and the South. The church of the Addolorata was the church of the castle and inside there is a rococo-style altarpiece, which boasts the prestige of being one of the very few in southern Italy.
