The botanical park of Sola Cabiati in Gorgonzola

Parco Sola Cabiati - The botanical park, a green oasis near Gorgonzola, is easily reachable from the tree-lined pedestrian avenue and many inhabitants reach it by bike to reconcile with the historic garden they care about a lot. The area was born in 1500 by the desire of Gabrio Serbelloni as a country residence. The garden initially built with perpendicular paths and a roundabout in the center, a typical stately structure of that time, was transformed in 1808 by the architect Simone Cantoni, into an English garden.

Round shapes were obtained with valleys and hills of lookout points on the lake fitted on the shore of a landing stage. The wood was planted inside which caves and ravines enriched it with a romantic connotation. In 1967 the Duke Ludovico Sola Cabiati donated it to the Municipality, which created a play area and a small zoo. Broken the historical tradition of the park, it was later restored in a more respectful way with historical and botanical thematic areas. Events and parties are organized in the garden where, however, access is free all year round from 8-20 in the summer months and 8-17 in the winter.
