The recently built Residence “La Casa di Nonno Eligio” is located in Barisardo, Sardinia east coast, right at the entrance to the town. The property is 4,5 km away from the XVIIth-century Spanish Tower and 6 km from the Cea beach. Main services, bars and restaurants are at walking distance. Arbatax Harbour and Santa Maria Navarrese (departure point for day trips in the area) are both 10-minute drive away.

Where We are

Situated along the Ogliastra coastline, Barisardo has a population of 3.871 inhabitants.
It was founded as a sort of refuge against pirate incursions and the root of its name, Barì, derives from the Mesopotamian “abbarì”, meaning marshland. After the Unification of Italy the town took the name of Barisardo (i.e. Bari Sardo) to distinguish it from Bari in Puglia.
There are a large number of ancient ruins scattered over the area, including fourteen nuraghi, but the Spanish defence towers, the Church of San Leonardo and the very old Parish Church of the Vergine di Monserrato (17th or 18th century) are also very interesting.
The town’s economy is based on sheep farming and crafts but the local people have for some time been concentrating their efforts on tourism, thanks to the outstandingly beautiful coastline that stretches from Cea beach, nestling within the red porphyry rock, as far as the rocky Punta Niedda and the vast expanses of sand near La Torre.
This corner of Sardinia offers a rich natural environment filled with the typical heady perfume of the Mediterranean.
Whilst developing modern-age tourism, the local people are also making the most of their traditional craft products, like jewellery in elaborate filigree, primitive Sardinian masks in wood and colourful local costumes. In summer they hold the "Sagra de su Nenniri" (Nectar Festival) with a procession going down to the sea and the patron saint festival dedicated to the Beata Vergine di Monserrato.
