On the ruins of an ancient work of defence called "Roman Costrum" or "Castle" is the bed and breakfast IL SESTANTE. This beautifully renovated historical building was, at the beginning of the twentieth century, the residence of the local fishermen because of proximity to the sea. Its structure is similar to that of adjacent Halls built next to each other and intersected by narrow alleys they give life to "la via del Borgo" now known as "path of independence." The origins of this street are ancient: in Roman times connected the mansions of the nobility and the Consuls to Flacca and Appia, later it was used as the only access to the city fortress (Gaeta old or medieval Gaeta) and, until the middle of the last century is as already mentioned, the home of fishermen and farmers. The bed and breakfast IL SESTANTE we tried to keep the colors and flavors of that epoch, of a life of simple and genuine things, without sacrificing the comfort of the modern era. The renovation has remained true to the original building and the furniture was created by skilled craftsmen using salvaged materials.
