The small town of La Magdeileine

Folklore and traditions

La Magdeleine - La Magdeleine is a small town of 110 inhabitants in the Aosta Valley. Immersed in the Valtournenche, the town is made up of 5 villages: Artaz, Vieu, Messelod, Clou and Brengon. In them you can still find the characteristic wooden houses of the high altitude villages. Place of great interest is the Church of Santa Maria Maddalena dating back to the end of the 1400s.

In the town there are several ancient ovens and mills which testify to the agricultural vocation of the past. These structures were arranged in a chain in order to make the most of the little water available. Every year during the Du Blé au Pain event the old ovens are back in operation to bake black bread. An absolute event in which to take a dip in the past. The small Museum of the Country in Miniature is worth a visit, in which the entire municipality of La Magdeleine is reproduced on a scale of 1 to 87. The town has also received several international awards for its floral decorations that adorn the 5 hamlets. Finally, there are several places to practice outdoor sports that make it a paradise for all fans.
