Ottaviano: in the heart of the Vesuvius National Park between nature and religion

Ottaviano - Ottaviano is a Neapolitan town that rises along the eastern slopes of the volcanic mountain massif of Somma-Vesuvius. It is the seat of the Vesuvius national park. The historic center is dominated by the Rocca, the Medici castle located in the upper part of the city. From here you can admire the view of both Vesuvius and the sea. The places of worship are numerous, among them the following stand out: the church of San Giovanni, with the fascinating fresco of the Trinity, the Church of San Michele Arcangelo, the fulcrum of the religious life of the city; characterized by a majestic bright green dome.

It is the church of the patron saint, where a procession which is deeply felt by the citizens takes place in the month of May; the Church of San Francesco di Paola and the Church of Montevergine, immersed in the greenery of Mount Somma. Ottaviano, especially in the upper part of the city, is the ideal place for visitors who love nature with the many nature trails that lead to Vesuvius and the archaeological areas. Ancient Roman villas have been found, not yet open to visitors but work is underway to bring them to light.
