Cremolino castle and other prestigious buildings

Culture

Cremolino - Cremolino is a medieval town in the Upper Monferrato. It is located 450 meters above sea level, in a strategic position that was to serve to control the territory. Not surprisingly, one of the most valuable buildings of the small village is the castle, which has been renovated in full respect of its original architectural forms. The Cremolino castle was originally a stronghold but when, around the 15th century, the Malaspina family settled there, it also became a prestigious home.

The building is one of the most beautiful and best preserved in Piedmont, and has the peculiarity of still having the original drawbridge intact. The village is also known for two other notable buildings: the Carmelite convent, in one of whose frescoes you can see a glimpse of the Cremolino as it was in medieval times, and the Church of the Madonna del Carmelo. The latter was built in the nineteenth century and has a Vegezzi Bossi organ, whose peer can only be admired (and heard) in the Cathedral of Aosta.
