The most interesting finds of the Archaeological Museum of Carife

Carife - In Carife there is an interesting Archaeological Museum which is not only representative of this municipality, but of the whole territory known as Baronia, which also includes Castel Baronia. Today the municipalities are divided, but the finds found and exhibited here show how once the territory was inhabited in a uniform way. Inside the Museum there are objects found in 4 different sites: three necropolises found in Serra San Marco and a Roman villa.

In particular, some craters built according to the style and techniques used by the ancient Greeks have aroused the interest of scholars. This means that the Samnites who populated the Barony had close relations with the Greeks, but not only. In fact, buccheri have also been brought to light, which instead have Etruscan origin. So the local populations were not only very well versed in crafts, but it is evident how they maintained close cultural and commercial relations with all the populations of Southern Italy.
