Alfedena. - The town is located in the upper Sangrio basin within the Abruzzo national park of which it houses the headquarters. It is a small inhabited nucleus where machines cannot enter, intact in the traditions of environmental conservation and warm in welcoming visitors. At an altitude of 1123 m it was founded by the Samnites and in 1440 the Rocca was built.

Surrounded by the Apennine crests, it is known for the Camosciara, an arched mountain area where the slopes are rugged and unpopular for pastoralism and exploration. Here both the Abruzzo chamois and the wolf survived from the merciless hunting practiced until 1973, when the WWF protected the area. Only about a hundred wolves were left, believed to be a danger, but over time and thanks to this intervention, groups have been reproduced throughout the Park. In the town we visit the museum dedicated to this wonderful animal that introduces us to its habits, history, its gaze that observes us from afar, without ever being seen.
