Lasa - Lasa is a small town in the province of Bolzano; it has 4,100 inhabitants and rises 868 meters above sea level. It boasts an excellence known all over the world: marble. Extracted from Monte Tramontana, in the Valle di Lasa in Val Venosta, it is transported downstream by rail in total respect for the environment. It is a very famous marble and loved by artists, sculptors and stonecutters for its extraordinary characteristics: hardness, resistance, purity. (continues below the video)
Its color is a crystalline white of exceptional brilliance. Famous monuments and very famous statues have been made with Lasa marble, but the most majestic work of all is certainly the New York 'Ground Zero' underground station; where the twin towers used to be, now there is the most beautiful underground station in the world. To create this extraordinary work, the new symbol of New York, 40,000 square meters of Lasa marble were used for a commercial value of ? 15 billion. From the tiny town of Laas to the huge New York, the leap was enormous.
